Random Mats
Kudandia
$50.00
Kudandia — a Random Mats category matatu whose name likely draws from Kenyan slang or wordplay. The mystery of the name is part of the appeal, inviting viewers to speculate and interpret. Dennis Muraguri's woodcut captures the typographic design that made this matatu's name a daily sight for Nairobi commuters. Random Mats represent the unfiltered diversity of Nairobi's matatu culture — designs that don't follow a sacco script or fit a predictable category. Kudandia is a prime example of that freedom, a name chosen for its sound, its rhythm, its ability to stick in the memory. This reproduction print adds an element of mystery to your collection. It works well in a gallery arrangement where the viewer can puzzle over the meaning alongside other matatu art.
