ROG Sacco
Steel Pulse
$50.00
Steel Pulse — named after the legendary British reggae band — brought roots, rock, and reggae to ROG Sacco's fleet. The band's activist lyrics and laid-back grooves found a natural home on a Nairobi matatu, where reggae music competes with hip-hop and gospel for speaker time. Dennis Muraguri's 2017 woodcut captures the band's name in bold lettering with the matatu's distinctive graphic framing. ROG Sacco operates routes that connect Nairobi's residential areas, and their fleet is known for music-themed designs that reflect the tastes of their drivers and owners. Steel Pulse was more than a name — it was a statement of allegiance to reggae culture and its messages of unity and resistance. This reproduction print is a must for reggae fans, music history enthusiasts, and collectors of matatu art that documents the intersection of Jamaican and Kenyan cultures. The A3 landscape format suits a music room, lounge, or gallery wall.
