Kiambu
Alpine Route 100
$50.00
Alpine Route 100 borrows its name from the legendary Alfa Romeo sports coupe and combines it with a Kiambu county route number. This Kiambu-based matatu blended Italian automotive romance with local pride, a fusion that sums up matatu culture's global-local sensibility. Dennis Muraguri's 2022 woodcut traces the sleek lines and sporty details. Kiambu county, on Nairobi's northern edge, has its own distinct matatu culture shaped by commuter flows into the city. The Alpine name spoke to speed and performance, qualities valued by drivers competing for passengers on the busy Kiambu-Nairobi corridor. Muraguri's carving captures the kinetic energy of that competition. This reproduction print is an excellent choice for car enthusiasts, collectors of transport-themed art, or anyone who appreciates how Nairobi matatus remix global car culture into something distinctly Kenyan.
