Umoinner Sacco
Krooks
$50.00
Krooks — an Umo Inner Sacco matatu whose name plays on 'crooks' — a cheeky acknowledgement of the trickster energy that exists in any transport industry. The K spelling gives it a distinctive edge, a personalised touch that sets this matatu apart from others on the route. Dennis Muraguri's woodcut captures the sly lettering. Umo Inner Sacco serves routes connecting Nairobi's eastern suburbs, and the Krooks design reflects the competitive spirit of those corridors. A name like Krooks suggests a matatu that knows the shortcuts, the loopholes, the ways to get you there faster — the kind of vehicle every passenger wants to flag down. This reproduction print appeals to those who appreciate the playful dishonesty of good matatu naming. It adds a wink and a nod to a collection of Nairobi street art.
