Luminous Sacco
Gangsta Limo [Square Format]
$50.00
Gangsta Limo (Square Format) — a Luminous Sacco matatu that played with the contrast between 'gangsta' grit and 'limo' luxury. The name captured the dual identity of matatus: rough-and-tumble public transport that also serves as a personal statement of style. Dennis Muraguri's 2018 woodcut isolates the most iconic elements of the livery into a balanced square crop. Luminous Sacco serves Nairobi routes with a fleet known for adventurous, boundary-pushing designs. Gangsta Limo combined hip-hop swagger with the elongated proportions of a stretch limousine — a visual joke that worked on multiple levels. Muraguri's carving preserves the humour and the artistry. The square format is perfect for modern interiors with limited wall space, framing beautifully as a standalone piece or as part of a diptych with the original uncropped composition. It adds attitude to any room without overwhelming it.
