Snowball Sacco
Boom Box
$50.00
Boom Box — a Snowball Sacco matatu that turned up the volume on Nairobi's streets. The name is a tribute to the portable cassette and radio players that defined 1980s and 1990s street culture, reimagined here as a rolling sound system. Dennis Muraguri's 2022 woodcut captures the retro-futuristic vibe with bold graphic panels. Snowball Sacco operates in Nairobi's commuter network, and the Boom Box design reflected the vehicle's legendary sound system — a point of pride for any matatu crew. In a city where matatu music brings the party to the pavement, the Boom Box name was both a description and a promise. This reproduction print is ideal for music lovers, collectors of boombox memorabilia, and anyone nostalgic for the golden age of hip-hop and portable sound. It makes a vibrant addition to a listening room, studio, or living space.
