Rongao Sacco
Astronauta
$50.00
Astronauta blasted onto Nairobi's streets with Rongao Sacco, a matatu that traded the usual wildlife and hip-hop references for a cosmic theme. Its livery featured an astronaut floating through a star-speckled nebula, a rare and playful departure from convention that turned heads on the city's commuter routes. Dennis Muraguri's woodcut strips the design to its essentials — the helmet visor, the drifting pose, the sense of zero-gravity freedom. This piece reflects the creativity of matatu owners who commission custom paint jobs that reflect their personal taste. An astronaut on a Nairobi minibus is unexpected; that's precisely the point. Muraguri's carving captures the curiosity and optimism that characterises Nairobi's youth culture. This reproduction c-type print is available in A3 landscape. It works beautifully in a modern interior, a child's bedroom, or any space where a touch of whimsy and wonder is welcome. The high-contrast black and white palette ensures it commands attention without overwhelming a room.
